Inspired by hippies, and by a past that yearned for freedom and self-affirmation, these artisanal Indianine are in brown calfskin suede with a rubber cork sole. The stitching around the bowl was done by hand, with a needle and thread as it used to be done. They’re made with you in mind, someone who knows how to be elegant even with more basic items.
Made in Montegranaro (Italy)
It’s like a glove. The tubular moccasin construction is when the upper forms a leather tube that sits on top of the sole. It’s the definition of softness and flexibility, and feels like having a pair of slippers on your feet.
Unrefined leather goes through the traditional process called “tanning”. And is treated so to prevent it from decomposition or loss in flexibility. Afterwards, the leather is put in a rotating wood barrel with water and brown coloring solution for dyeing. Water is then warmed up to 60°C to help the color bind to the leather for a lasting finish.
The rubber compound is studied to obtain the best possible grip. Soft and elastic, it leaves the shoe really comfortable and perfect for daily life.
Suede calf leather comes from the innermost layer of leather, which is worked through buffing: it consists of abrading the surface, which reveals its typical velvety effect.
